Sewing Room - where it all happens

I'm working 12 days straight at the moment.  And they are long days so no sewing going on. So I thought I would show you where all the sewing takes place.  Some of these photos are from when I first made the cutting table, so it is a lot more crowded with stuff now. I think people who sew can not help buying fabric for that next project when they haven't finished the last one.

 I am lucky enough to have 3 machines, the first one I do most sewing on, second one usually is set up with cream cotton (when I am doing dolls, it is easier to jump between machines), the next has a ruffler foot on it (the foot is new and I am yet to master it) and then it's my over locker. 

 The cutting table is a door, put on top of high shelves - so you don't have to bend over.  Also this gave me lots of storage room.  Though all the shelves are filled up now and I am searching for more space.lol

 As you can see these shelves are a lot fuller now,  I use trays to put my sewing in.  There is one on the table. I have 8 of these and it is great when you have a few things cut out.

Painting and Sewing, Part 2

 Meet Angus.  He usually hangs out in the sewing room when I am sewing.  If he is not shoving a ball at you to be thrown, he is in his little bed beside me.  How do I know it was cold last night while I was sewing...there was no Angus to be seen, he was in my bed under the blankets. lol   

 So here is the Danique and Matty's house after the painting on the week end. It is looking great.  It is a very exciting time for my children.  Danique and Matty have moved into their own home.  Kylie had her birthday on Monday and Chris and Kylie's first child is due next Monday.  And Matty's birthday is on the 26th.

So 2012 is a big year!

And here is last nights sewing.  I love this fabric, I have it in teal as well.  So it is a little top and hopefully I will get the little ruffle pants done over the next couple of nights.  I have to really make an effort to do some house work instead of sewing. lol  I know which one I'd rather do but unfortunately some things are necessary.  I think I am going to do a little something for the front of the top in the pink that will be on the ruffle of the pants.

Little Bikini with Ruffled Pants Finished

 I know you shouldn't say this about your own work, but I just love this!  I think it is so cute.

 Here is the back, I bought heaps of the lining check fabric, it is lovely and soft.

Here is the little headband I made. I have quite a thing for headbands.  I'm probably the only person you know that bought a tower of drawers just to keep her headband collection in.lol  

And here is the fabric I am making a little top and ruffle pants set out of next.  I just love this collection, it is called Tradewinds and it just beautiful!  Sorry it is upside down, it was the right way and I do not have time to change it as I am off to work.

Ruffled Diaper Cover

Love this ruffled diaper cover.  It is fully lined.

 The ruffles come around to the front

 And it is just gorgeous from the back as well

I painted again today until after lunch, had a Nana nap (I can say that now as I nearly am one.lol)

And then made the diaper cover.  I have a little Bikini top I am going to make to go with it.

I had work to do last night so will try and get it made after I get home from work tonight

Painting and sewing

 So it has been a very busy weekend, Matty and I prepped the walls Friday night.  Saturday we went for an early Breakfast to try a new cafe near Matty and Danique's new home, and then we were straight into painting.  A friend dropped over, it was his birthday and this was the only time I could catch up with him in the next three weeks.  So morning tea was Birthday cake and Sig (the bird) was very interested in what Danique had in her hand.

 Sig spent most of the day flying from one person to the next, here he is hanging with Matty

I went home and sewed till 1am and made this little top.  There is a ruffled diaper cover to go with it.  It is cut out I just need to sew it.  I know I said I was making Pinnies next, but I went to the Spotlight store in my lunch break on Friday and bought lots of gorgeous check fabrics, and I knew this one would lovely with the floral, so I had to make it .  I am easily distracted when it comes to sewing,  and I want to take these to Melbourne with me when the baby (1st Grandchild, a little girl) comes.  It isn't long now, she is due on the 9th of July.  I have another one cut out ready to make also.  Well I have to go and paint some more today.
